Can I get the Vacant Property Grant and SEAI grants together?

Yes in principle, but you cannot claim two grants for the same item of work. The Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant is typically used for structural and fabric repair, while SEAI grants cover eligible energy upgrade measures not already funded.

Both schemes prohibit funding the same cost twice. In practice applicants split the scope: roof structure, windows where structurally required, rewiring, plumbing and general refurbishment under the vacant grant, and insulation, heat pump or solar measures under SEAI.

Tell each body about the other application. Local authorities ask about other grant funding on the application form, and SEAI inspections can pick up measures already funded elsewhere.

Keep the paperwork separate

  • Ask the contractor for separately itemised quotations per measure
  • Keep invoices split by funded scope
  • Record which grant paid for which element
